We are a family of 7. Our youngest son was born with Down syndrome. We learned a lot about Down syndrome, including the sad reality that some children born with Ds in other countries do not go home with their family after being born. For many reasons, these babies and babies born with other issues, including physical defects or differences, go to orphanages or baby homes. Most children are transferred to institutions after the age of 4 or so. These beautiful gifts from God don't go to school, get therapy, or have a mommy or daddy to kiss them goodnight. Most live very sad lives, sometimes without adequate food and medical attention. We stepped out in faith and adopted a little girl from Eastern Europe with Ds who has quickly become a light in our lives. This blog was begun to highlight one little sweet boy who is still an orphanage and needs a family. Daniel, as referred to on Reece's Rainbow, has a precious face and gorgeous eyes. Please help us find him a mommy and daddy.

It's a new Angel Tree people!

Today begins the Angel Tree for 2012. Last year I did not quite meet the goal to raise $1000 for Daniel's grant fund. I was going to let someone else take the reins on being Daniel's Warrior this year in hopes they would do a better job. But it was almost the last day to sign up and I couldn't stand him being without a Warrior so here I am again. I love this little boy. I would so love to see him in our family. Many families go back again, or again and again, to bring kids HOME. Our adoption of Dashlyn was so worth it, but it wore us out. Unless many things change for us, we won't be bringing more kids home. But I hope to encourage someone else to fall in love with Daniel, and go get him! So, I need to get his picture out there! I need to grow his grant fund! It's expensive to adopt, and every penny he already has makes it easier on his family. So please help. Add him to your prayers, donate whatever you can to his fund, spread the word about him, and give me fundraising ideas! I appreciate all of them. Coming soon - Daniel's new picture! Until then, here is a link to his Reece's Rainbow profile: http://reecesrainbow.org/469/daniel Go see him!

Yesterday was the official start date of the Angel Tree!

And of course, I was not efficient enough to make a post yet!

But the good news is we have Daniel’s button installed so you can click on his pic which will take you to the Angel Tree page of Reece’s Rainbow.  Just click on the link to see the Angels, scroll down to Daniel’s picture, and you can use the “donate” box to send him a tax deductible donation!  If your donation is $35 or more, you will be able to receive a beautiful Reece’s Rainbow ornament with Daniel’s picture on it for your tree.  Or you can decline the ornament (but I am totally getting one!).  ANY donation is greatly appreciated!

There are other ways to donate as well:

1. Send a check to Reece’s Rainbow (also tax deductible)

Reece's Rainbow
PO Box 4024

(Please make sure you mark the check for Daniel 2H)

2. Send cash or a check to me and I PROMISE to get it to Daniels’ account.  (I have the comments on moderate so leave me a comment with your e-mail and I will send you my address.)  The only drawback to this plan is that your donation will not be tax deductible.  But the money will still go to a WONDERFUL cause :).

Any way you’re able to donate, please let me know (leave me a comment or send me an e-mail) so I can give you a reward!  I’m trying to figure out how to do a give-a-way (hints are appreciated).

Thank You!!

Pics!

Daniel spring 2011 xtix-update

Isn’t he absolutely precious!!  I love his eyes and can look at them for days.  My heart hurts every time I think of him going to an institution after his 5th birthday this spring.  I hope his family finds him soon.

Welcome!

Welcome to Daniel's blog. Daniel is a little boy in an orphanage in Eastern Europe who needs a family. I fell in love with his precious little face and hope to find him a forever home. During this Christmas season, our goal is to raise awareness of him to find a family and hopefully add $1000 to his adoption fund. We're working on ideas for fundraisers so any suggestions are appreciated! Hopefully I'll have a pic or 2 to post soon :)
